Annual General Meeting 2016 details

Venue

Tangleball, 27 Edinburgh Street, Newton, Auckland 1010

Date and time

2016 November 29, 19:00 start

Quorum

To hold the meeting, we need a minimum of 40% of registered members to attend.

40% of membership is 16 members.

How to participate

Attending

Whether you are a member or a non-member, come to Tangleball before the start time of 19.00 PM on Tuesday Nov 29th. This will be an open meeting, like most Tangleball events. The meeting is expected to run for about 1 hour.

As the AGM will happen in place of the usual weekly group discussion, there will still be the typical pre- and post-meeting socialising and project time. Anyone is welcome to bring food, drinks or snacks to share, if so inclined.

If you are unsure about your current membership status, get in touch with us and we will verify our records. Email: Abhishek (mail@abhishek.geek.nz), or say hello at any of the weekly events before the AGM.

Nominating

To nominate members for committee positions, email Abhishek (mail@abhishek.geek.nz) with the following information:

  • the names of people you as a member would like to nominate (you may nominate yourself)
  • which positions you are nominating them to
  • which member has agreed to second each nomination

NOTE: The closing date and time for nominations is November 24 (Thursday) at 17.00 PM.

Currently held positions and nominations can be found under Nominations below.

Proposing a Member's Motion

To propose a motion as a member for the society to vote on, email Abhishek (mail@abhishek.geek.nz) with the following information:

  • the final text of the motion (as precisely as you can word it)
  • who is proposing the motion
  • any co-signers to the motion (this can matter for rule changes, or in the unlikely event of having to override the committee)
  • optionally: a summary explaining the reason, background, intent or other information behind the proposal, to help other members decide

NOTE: The closing date for motions is Nov 1 (Tuesday).

Questions, comments, contributions

If you have further questions, again email mail@abhishek.geek.nz or raise it at a Tuesday weekly meeting. Planning for the AGM will continue during the Tuesday weekly meetings at Tangleball, so that may be the best way to get involved with ideas, logistics, procedures, etc leading up to the event.

Alternative contact

Instead of email, you can also snail-mail post your motion proposals or nomination letters or other written notes or queries to Tangleball at 27 Edinburgh Street, Newton, Auckland 1010. (Just be sure to identify yourself!)

Or else you can personally deliver a note to Abhishek at a Tuesday weekly meeting.

If you cannot get in touch with Abhishek for any reason, you may email contact@tangleball.org.nz or reach out via one of the other committee members or active members you know.

Please share this page and future AGM notices to any other channels you think may be appropriate. e.g. Tangleball social media accounts if you have access to them.

If you personally know any inactive Tangleball members, consider pointing out this notice to them an well. We would like to have as many members attending as would be willing if they knew the AGM details.
