Time & Place

• Title: Tangle Ball Auckland Meeting
• When: Tuesday, 2 August, 7:00pm
• Where: 27 Edinburgh Street, Newton

The first part is an administrative meeting, until about 8pm

At 8pm, we talk about/show projects we are working on, would like help with, or want to demo.

If you have not visited before, and would like to suggest a project, ask for help or tell Tangleball what you are doing, this is probably the best time to visit.

• Tangle Ball have been contacted by a group who would like to hold a photo exhibition at TB. It would run towards the end of August - Robin is in conversation with the group, and finding out what is required. Any objections? some of the photos are here: http://www.activestills.org/ I have asked the following - waiting for an answer:
  • What size space do you need? Our space is 160+m^2, but quote a lot is taken up with tools, bikes, projects, storage, etc. We could possibly shift stuff around to accommodate you
  • Our space is fairly industrial/workshop looking - not your average gallery in ambience. is this a problem? there are sometimes people using power tools, although generally only in the evening, and we could more than likely mitigate the effects of dust/noise
  • We don't have much wall space available - we could possibly build some timber walls with wood we have in the space though.
  • How many days would the exhibition run for?
  • How many hours a day would you want it open for?
  • Would you need someone from our org there all the time it is open, or do you have volunteers who could staff it? And if the latter, could those same volunteers help set the space up?
  • How would the event be promoted?
  • Any suggestions of further questions to ask/points to make?
    • Relevance to making/hacking/creating? Is there a more appropriate venue, like a university gallery or general community centre?
      • We are open to any pursuits, including artistic.
  • Someone called Ben phoned on Sunday, possibly from Wellington, asking for confirmation about this.
    • Someone else who is based in Auckland may visit at the meeting if possible. One of the organisers, Hone Fowler, will be visiting tonight to explain more.

• There is a copy of last month's Idealog in the library. There are 7 more at Robin's house; does anyone want one?
